Meet joanna hendrick, LMFT, lpcc

I’m Joanna, a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) with over a decade of clinical experience and a Master’s Degree in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from New York University. I worked in the Addiction Medicine clinics of a large healthcare provider in San Francisco and Los Angeles, where I individually counseled hundreds of adults and adolescents with a range of mental health and substance-related issues. I also facilitated daily therapy, support, and education groups for individuals at all stages of recovery and treatment as well as conducted assessments of new and ongoing patients.

After becoming the mother of two, I experienced firsthand how overwhelming, destabilizing, and transformative parenting can be. This led me to specialize in supporting women, particularly mothers, through the emotions, personal changes, and practical realities of this stage of life. I have completed advanced training in perinatal mental health, and I am passionate about nurturing mothers through this complex transition, both in the short-term and the long-term. Prior to pursuing my therapy career, I was a high school English teacher and I also hold a Master’s Degree in Education.

How I can help

I draw from my training, clinical expertise, lived parenting experience, and continued professional education to offer a compassionate, evidence-based approach to therapy, tailored to your objectives and needs. My goal is to help you navigate challenges like anxiety and self-doubt, life transitions, strained relationships, and the complexities of parenting, prioritizing your specific needs in the limited time you have to devote to yourself. Together, we will create an individualized therapy plan that fosters sustainable resilience, balance, and growth.

Therapy is a collaborative journey where I will provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space for exploration and healing. I integrate elements of Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with Mindfulness and practical strategies to support meaningful, lasting change. Each session is tailored to meet your personal objectives, helping you feel more grounded and empowered in your daily life.
